AVERKIOU
Achtung, vinyl aficionados! Test pressings of Throwing Sparks are en route to the Averkiou headquarters for perusal and approval. This will be a limited-edition release on the Barracuda Sound imprint (500 copies, 100 of which will be pressed into beautiful 180-gram seafoam wax) featuring different artwork than the CD (which arrives Nov. 11, dig?). The peeps at No Idea Records have demonstrated their uncommon good taste by including the Gainesville five on their forthcoming #1 Reason to Move to Gainesville compilation. Spring 2009 tourdates are in the early planning stages, so feel free to let us know if you’d like them to play your basement, living room, backyard or amphitheatre.

AUTODRONE
We at Clairecords are enjoying an abundant harvest of fall releases—and radio adds too! Strike a Match doesn’t even come out until Nov. 11, but AM/FM outlets from coast to coast are already enamored of it, among them KEXP-FM (Seattle, WA), KHSU-FM (Arcata, CA), KCRW-FM (Los Angeles, CA), KSUN-FM (Rohnert Park, CA), WXDU-FM (Philadelphia, PA) and KDVS-FM (Davis, CA; #5 in top 5 adds). If you’ve yet to hear your favorite track from Strike A Match on your local college or community broadcaster, why not do the right thing and request it? Keep a lookout for Autodrone’s forthcoming feature on the Delusions of Adequacy Web site, and stay tuned to East Village Radio for an on-air interview as well.

The nom de song of German auteur Michael Lueckner and vocalist Ayako Akashiba, Guitar has not one but two exercises in ambient sonic intrigue slated for a Nov. 13 arrival: Honeysky and Saltykisses, both of which were only available in Japan until we stepped in and did something about it. We know that those among you who didn’t attend CMJ are perched on the edge of your seat waiting for word on the happs, so here it is, courtesy of AVERKIOU’s David Quarles:

“CMJ was amazing! Radiohead's manager bought our record and said we blew his mind. This crazy photographer that I was told had something to do with Dig / BJM came to both shows and wanted to do a photo shoot in SoHo. Chad and Jay got kicked out of a free Black Lips show, I guess they decided it was a good idea to have an impromptu / wasted photo shoot in some dude’s car. We saw Pains of Being Pure At Heart which was pretty much amazing. We stayed drunk and stoned the whole time and got lost a lot. Haha.”
