Hot off the heels of their latest long-player, After Summer,”everyone’s favorite Estonians have two more projects in the can: an album of remixes courtesy of peeps like His Name is Alive, Future Pilot AKA, Teenage Fanclub and Seeland, and a limited-edition split 7-inch with Ulrich Schnauss. Check out the band’s spiffy video for “Spring sister” here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDQyRT_23cg . And thanks to WBRS-FM (Waltham/Boston MA), WITR-FM (Rochester, NY), KVMR-FM (Nevada City, CA), CFUV-FM (Victoria BC), WUNH-FM (Durham, NH) and KXLU-FM (Los Angeles, CA) for adding After Summer to their playlists! http://www.piafraus.com/ http://www.myspace.com/piafraus SECRET SHINE Deutschland uber alles! The Shinees are preparing for a whirlwind jaunt through the Bundesrepublik next month, and West Coast tourdates with Tears Run Rings are in the planning stages for November. WXDU-FM (#42, Durham NC) and WMBR (#7; Cambridge, MA) both rule for giving All of the Stars such generous airplay! http://www.secretshine.co.uk http://www.myspace.com/secretshine SILVER SCREEN Stop the presses! Cris Miller reports, “I have been busy lately, and thankfully it is with creative things. Twelve of 14 songs are finished for the next record, mastering should start this summer. I am playing guitar again in a side project with my good friends of Melodyguild. There is currently a CD EP (recorded before I joined) released on Projekt Records. We are recording a full length for them this year, surely you will recognize my guitar sound and touches on this forthcoming LP. We expect a big response, since the CD EP was so well received. We will be playing live shows around local LA areas as well as San Francisco and perhaps other cities if time and schedules permit.” In further news, and at long last, Silver Screen will play its first live show ever on July 5 at the Summershine Pop Festival in beautiful Ventura, Calif.! Stay tuned to Silver Screen’s Myspae outpost for details as they become available. http://www.myspace.com/thegreateststorynevertold THE BROTHER KITE Set those record players to stun, because Waiting for the Time to be Right is at long-last available on delicious vinyl! In further happenings, the Pride of Providence recently played not one but two shows with Frightened Rabbit, and progress continues on their next studio album. Watch the drama unfold at the band’s Myspace blog! Spiffy new T-shirts are available through Tonevendor.com as well, so there’s no excuse to go naked. (Unless it’s really hot.) http://www.myspace.com/thebrotherkite http://www.thebrotherkite.com/ * * * OUR PRESS. LET US SHOW YOU IT. * * * PIA FRAUS After Summer is somewhat of a surprise as it is this up-and-coming band's most accessible album yet, probably due (at least in part) to the involvement of co-producer Norman Blake who did a splendid job adding polish to the Pia Fraus sound without making the band sound samey and generic. Summer could just be a breakout album for this band...which would allow them to expand their fan base even farther. Ten cool dreamy hummable tracks here...including "Springsister," "Yenissey," "Late Again," and "Far Fade Whisper." We've been impressed by everything we have heard thus far from this wonderfully inventive band. Highly recommended.” - Babysue SECRET SHINE “Any one of these 10 shoegaze songs is a mini-love affair, full of Jamie Gingell’s Ian Masters-like innocence and ruby-lullaby melodies; those guitars, guitars, guitars (even some string-bending/whammy bar action); and sense of wonder AWOL these days. All is star-bound, indeed.” -- Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover * * * CLAIRECORDS COMIN’ AT YOU LIVE! * * * AIR FORMATION 06/14/08 Brighton, UK- The Engine Rooms 06/19/08 London, UK- Industry 08/14/08 London, UK- The Gramaphone w/ Secret Shine PAIK 06/20/08 Louisville, KY- Mellwood Arts Center (Terrastock 7 Festival) w/ Damon & Naomi, Bardo Pond, Antietam, Windy & Carl, the Bevis Frond, + more PARK AVENUE MUSIC BY HEARTS + HORSES 07/12/08 Sacramento, CA- Bows and Arrows PIA FRAUS 09/14/08 Osaka, JP- Sunsui 09/15/08 Tokyo, JP- Nest 09/16/08 Tokyo, JP- Nest SECRET SHINE 06/10/08 Kiel, DE- Club Schaubude 06/11/08 Berlin, DE- Bang Bang Club 06/12/08 Kassel, DE- Club Barracuda 06/13/08 Hamburg, DE- Gruner Jager 06/14/08 Leipzig, DE- Café Panam 08/14/08 London, UK- The Gramaphone w/ Air Formation SILVER SCREEN 07/05/08 Ventura, CA- Summershine Festival HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?
