CLAIRECORDS NEWSLETTER 11/05 Welcome to the sweet-sixteenth edition of the Clairecords newsletter. Time to gorge yourself into comatose oblivion and fall asleep in front of football. Save us a drumstick and a slice of Tofurkey! AIR FORMATION If you were in the London metropolitan area and missed seeing Air Formation’s sold-out show with The House of Love at Club AC30 earlier this month we’re sure you’ve kicked yourself halfway down the block by now. But as 2005 wanes and the new year approaches there’ll be plenty more shows (and new material) to come, so stay tuned! http://www.airformation.com AIRIEL Breaking news from our favorite Windy City noiseniks! “We've got a gig with Helen Stellar coming up at Double Door on December 3rd. They're getting a lot of buzz because they met Cameron Crowe and got one of their songs on the Elizabethtown soundtrack. Beyond that, we're messing around with some more electronic elements in our music. Trying to push the envelope a bit. We're trying to get all the video footage we took while on the tour together into some sort of EPK or maybe a DVD or something.” http://www.airiel.com MONSTER MOVIE Monster Movie’s next studio outing is rapidly nearing completion! As the band reports, “ We master the bastard on the 30th of November and then we put it in the magic machine and it appears in all the shops in the world and elsewhere. There are twelve tracks, two are instrumentals and one almost is, everything else sounds like hit singles to us. We think this is the best thing we've done thus far and everything else we've done has been brilliant so you join the dots. When we have a title and a release date we'll put a track by track report on the web-site, that should be riveting. We're still looking for band members - by crikey sign up or we'll bring conscription back.” http://www.monster-movie.com SCIFLYER It seems WFMU-FM has developed quite an infatuation with The Age of Lovely Things, and we’d like to assure them it’s completely mutual (with the exception of a few jurisdictions in which that sort of thing is prohibited by law). http://www.sciflyer.net TEST TONES VOL. 5 The fifth edition of our ever-popular quarterly compilation series Is now available at an independent record retailer near you (i.e. tonevendor.com) and features previously-released selections by the likes of Linda Draper, The Ebb and Flow, and the most ubiquitous Sciflyer. At that price you’ll have a copy for everyone on your Yuletide shopping list! http://www.tonevendor.com/item/20635 THE BROTHER KITE The pride of the Ocean State will contribute a new track, “Get On, Me,” to the next installment of Club AC30’s split-single series. It’s due out shortly, so don’t forget to include it on your Christmas list beside TBK’s eponymous opus, which just clocked in at #20 on KWRS-FM (Whitworth College)’s last chart, right between Giant Drag and Rogue Wave. http://www.thebrotherkite.com *** CLAIRECORDS MEDIA DARLINGS! *** SCIFLYER “Sounding like a fuzzed out version of a Doves single, ‘The Nation’ gallops along with lively drums and layered guitars before running smack dab into a haze of fuzz and feedback.” - Allan Huang, Redefine Magazine ** CLAIRECORDS ROCKS YOU LIKE A PARKED VAN ** AIRIEL 12/03/05 Chicago IL- The Double Door w/ Helen Stellar ISOBELLA 12/03/05 Tampa FL- Skate Park of Tampa w/ Xiu Xiu, Dead Science, Yip Yip HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?
